Sprinkler Systems

An irrigation system, or "lawn sprinkler" system as its commonly referred to, is a permanently installed underground network of pipes, valves and nozzles that is tied into your water supply, giving you an efficient and convenient method of caring for your lawn, plants and shrubbery. It reliably ensures that all of these things receive the proper amount of watering to keep healthy and full of life. Properly caring for your lawn and garden can greatly improve the appearance of your property and prolong landscape longevity.

These systems are generally scheduled to operate early in the morning when moisture loss due to evaporation is at a minimum. The automatic controller is programmed to provide a regular and consistent watering schedule and gives you independence from "dragging the hose".

The main components of these systems are:

Controller

The Controller is the nerve center of the sprinkler system in that it regulates the time, duration and days each section operates. With a non-volatile memory and battery back-up it is "set it and forget it".

Wireless Rain Sensor

A Rain sensor measures the rain fall and prevents the sprinkler system from operating if nature has provided enough moisture. This prevents over-watering, which can actually be harmful to plant life in some cases, and also saves you money on your water bill.

Rotary HeadMist Head

Sprinkler heads are used to distribute the water to your lawn and are primarily used in two types:

Rotary heads are quiet gear driven sprinklers that 'pop-up' and rotate to distribute water over the larger lawn areas.

Mist heads also 'pop-up' and emit a fan spray and are used for smaller lawn areas and planting beds.

Reduced Pressure Backflow Prevention Valve

A Reduced Pressure Backflow Prevention Valve (RPZ) is connected after your domestic water supply and is designed to prevent any water in the sprinkler system from mixing with house water (and the village water supply). An RPZ valve must be installed with all sprinkler systems to follow code regulations in Illinois.

Poly PipeValve

"Poly" pipe is semi flexible pipe that is pulled through the ground with the use of a vibratory plow. Using this specialized plow results in a minimal impact to the lawn.

Low voltage electric valves are set in flush mounted boxes and are piped to a group of sprinkler heads. When the controller signals the valve to open, the group or "zone" of sprinkler heads are fed the pressurized water coming from the house, and they begin to operate.
